The four accountability reports produced are as follows:
1. Management of Revenue and Expenditure: This report provides an in-depth analysis of how public funds were collected and utilized, highlighting both best practices and areas in need of urgent reforms.
2. Social Service Delivery: This report assesses the effectiveness and efficiency of public services, such as health, water and education, in meeting the needs of the population.
3. Public Oversight Institutions: This report evaluates the performance of the institutions responsible for monitoring and regulating public financial activities, ensuring they fulfill their mandates effectively.
4. Red Flags of Corruptive and Fraudulent Issues in the Public Sector: This crucial report identifies and scrutinizes instances of corruption and fraud, detailing malpractices that undermine public trust, service provision and economic stability.
The primary objective of the Accountability Reports is to present financial accountability information in a manner that is user friendly to the ordinary citizens. By simplifying complex financial data into a comprehensible language, infographics and cartoons. WAJIBU aims to empower the public with the knowledge needed to demand accountability and transparency from their leaders.
In providing valuable insights, the reports also highlights key high public interest issues, calling both state and non-state actors to take action. WAJIBU urges all stakeholders to collaborate in ensuring that public funds are managed responsibly, providing value for money and contributing to poverty reduction. Accountability is identified as a key agenda to drive positive changes within the country.
The launching event of the Accountability Reports was attended by government officials, non-state actors, media and CSOs, youth in higher learning institutions and citizens.
WAJIBU calls on all actors to join hands in ensuring there is accountability in the collection and use of public resources. Together, we can ensure that public resources are used efficiently and effectively to bring about positive changes and reduce poverty in our country.
